{DKH Longest-Serving Employees Spotlight}

 In celebration of 125 years of service, Day Kimball Healthcare (DKH) is showcasing many of our longest-serving employees who have dedicated 40 or more years to our organization. Here’s a chance to get a more personal look at the people woven into the history of your community hospital.

This month we recognize Deborah Lucier, customer service specialist in the patient accounts department at Day Kimball Hospital, who began working at DKH in 1979. Deborah’s roots with DKH go further back to her birth here at the Hospital. She grew up in Woodstock, and currently resides in Putnam.

Do you remember your first day of work at DKH? Not really, but I do remember my first boss, Bernard Smith. He was the nicest man and treated everyone well. Everyone was so easy to get along with.

What roles have you had at DKH? Outpatient and Emergency Department registration, Patient Accounts.

What do you like most about your job? The people I work with.

What do you like most about working at DKH? What have you gained? I have gained many good friends. I like that DKH is close to home and the benefits provided.

What is your proudest moment at DKH? Being named the 2016 Employee of the Year.

What is your fondest memory of your time at DKH so far? I think that when all our children were young, we were like one big family in the office. It’s incredible how fast the last 40 years have passed.

With this being DKH’s 125th anniversary, what do you think makes DKH so special? The family atmosphere.

What do you like to do outside of work? I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren. I love to be by the water and I also like to do yard work.
