Day Kimball Health (DKH) is pleased to announce that the DKH Foundation’s Beer & Wine Tasting fundraising event, held Friday, May 5 at The Mansion at Bald Hill in Woodstock, was attended by a crowd of over 200 guests and raised more than $21,000 for the NECT Cancer Fund of DKH.

Sue Windrow of Pomfret Wine and Spirits LLC collaborated with local wineries, breweries, and distributors to create an amazing sampling of beer, wine, spirits, and ready-to-drink cocktails presented by 24 vendors from around New England. Guests enjoyed a champagne toast sponsored by Anya and William H. Mason House, Cinco de Mayo-themed hors d’oeuvres, a pretzel wall donated by Auntie Anne’s Cinnabon and Rustic Creations, and decadent desserts donated by Costco, all while being entertained with music by Evan Couture all night long.

“Thanks to a wonderful collaboration and partnership between our Foundation, Sue Windrow of Pomfret Spirits, our sponsors, the vendors, our volunteers, the Mansion at Bald Hill, and a room full of generous and enthusiastic participants, the evening could not have turned out better,” said Kristen Willis, Director of Development & Volunteer Services. “We’re extremely grateful for the generosity and show of support that continues to emerge from our community for the NE CT Cancer Fund, and most importantly, for those patients and families in our region who benefit from the vital services that the fund supports.”

The event included a wine bottle ring toss game with a wine fridge prize donated by Bousquet’s Appliance, and a raffle basket drawing whose donors include All the Shines Designs; Berkshire Hathaway; Cabot Creamery; Caylee’s Kitchen, DKH Foundation; Brandy Hapgood; Janet Johnson; Sharon Keith; Lynne Morin; Nora Henry Designs; Junior Ortega; Dawn Pratt; TEEG; Tree House Brewing Company; Two Roads Brewing Company; Ben Wakely; Sharon Wakely; Erica White; Bev Wilcox; Kayli Wilfong; Kristen Willis, and Caylee Wolfburg.

Major sponsors for the event included Presenting Sponsors: Centreville Bank, SPIROL, and WIN Waste Innovations; Gold Sponsor: Linemaster Switch; and Bronze Sponsors: Gerardi Insurance, Rawson Material, and Weiss, Hale, & Zahansky Strategic Wealth Advisors. A special thank you to committee members including Brandy Hapgood, Sharon Keith, Lynne Morin, Junior Ortega, Dawn Pratt, Sharon Wakely, Bev Wilcox, and Kayli Wilfong.

The NECT Cancer Fund of DKH provides financial assistance for cancer screening and treatment to Northeast Connecticut residents in need. Originally founded by a local family in honor of a loved one lost too soon to breast cancer, today the NECT Cancer Fund of DKH provides financial assistance to our neighbors in need. Assistance is used to help pay for cancer-related screening and treatment services to individuals living in Northeast Connecticut who otherwise may not have the financial resources to access needed medical care. Through charitable contributions of local businesses, community members, and various philanthropic events, more than $3.4 million has been raised for the Fund since its inception in 1989.
