Caitlin Mather, medical social worker, for the case management department at Day Kimball Hospital, has been named employee of the month for February by Day Kimball Healthcare (DKH).

Mather began working for DKH in February 2017. Prior to joining DKH, she worked for the Connecticut Department of Children and Families. In her role, Mather is responsible for developing hospital discharge plans for patients on the medical/surgical, intensive care unit, and maternal child health departments.

At Mather’s employee of the month celebration held at Day Kimball Hospital, John Graham, MD, Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Quality and Medical Affairs, Day Kimball Healthcare, said “Caitlin has a remarkable attitude and is a real team player. It is a pleasure to work with her, and the good work she has done for our community has been well recognized.”

In response to being named employee of the month, Mather said, “I am excited to have received this recognition.”

When asked what she likes most about her job, Mather said, “Just about everything! I love the patients I get to work with and the opportunity to assist them in having safe plans when they are ready to leave the hospital. I love the relationships I have established with local community resources, including skilled nursing facilities and home care agencies, while making connections for patients. I have great coworkers in a community hospital setting. I’m very grateful for a job I enjoy so much.”

Mather was raised in Brooklyn, Connecticut and currently resides in Pomfret, Connecticut. She holds an associate’s of human services degree from Quinebaug Valley Community College, a bachelor’s of social work degree from Eastern Connecticut State University, and a master’s of social work degree from Wheelock College.

Day Kimball Healthcare’s employee of the month program is sponsored by Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut. “The Mashantucket (Western) Pequot Tribal Nation and Foxwoods Resort Casino has been focused on taking care of the people that serve within our community, and we appreciate everything Day Kimball Healthcare does,” said Foxwood’s Director of Sponsorships and Partnerships Roy Colebut-Ingram. “Supporting meaningful employee recognition programs like that at DKH is just one way that we feel we can express our appreciation.”
